Our Information Technology department is a key enabler to keep our internal businesses moving forward and is continuously exploring advanced information technologies to enrich the Al Tayer Group’s ability to be the leading conglomerate within Middle East. This department aims to deliver internal businesses with empowering and transformational capabilities, and to create an inclusive, innovative and integrated work environment.


We are currently looking for a Vice President-IT Operations to lead a vibrant team of professionals to perform full onsite support on data centre operations and infrastructure facilities. This position reports to the Chief Information Officer with 4 direct reports mentioned below.

The main purpose of this role is to ensure the operational continuity, reliability whilst transforming the currently deployed IT infrastructure of the Al Tayer Group, including all IT systems, networks, databases, as well as oversee the provision of day-to-day 1st and 2nd line support to the business users across the Group.


Below are some of the main responsibilities and accountabilities of this role:

 

Leadership and Transformation:

  • Lead transformation, sets the tone and challenge current process/practices.
  • Lead service delivery governance by balancing between the need of the internal customer and the cost of service delivery.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the team in achieving department’s goals and objectives.

 Strategic:

  • Participate in the formulation of the IT functional strategy by providing inputs from an IT Infrastructure perspective, and ensure IT Infrastructure requirements are incorporated into the functional strategy.
  • Review the budget requirements of the IT Infrastructure function, and accordingly participate in the development of the budget of the IT Department.

Functional:

  • Oversee the development and testing of disaster recovery plans in line with business continuity requirements during any outage, also to prevent any data loss through implementation of backup plans in order to ensure uninterrupted functioning of all IT servers & conduct regular data backup.
  • Manage the entire data-centre operations (including applications, internet and intranet services), facility administration, technical support and network support as well as the day-to-day management of staff.
  • Oversee the IT service catalogue and associated SLA with different businesses and corporate departments of the Group.
People Management:

  • Ensure that the team members are acquainted with the changing situations and the developments of the Al Tayer Group.
  • Lead and manage succession planning as a strategic initiative (e.g. Identify successors for all critical roles and developing individuals who have potential for further growth within the department).
  • Guide and motivate subordinates to enhance performance and produce quality work, and ensure that they are continuously developed for higher-level roles.
  • Prepare performance evaluation and appraisal reports of direct reports to assess subordinates productivity and progress, and identify training needs of team members to improve efficiency and ensure conformity with standard procedures and practices.
Qualification, Experience & Skills:

  • Graduate or Post Graduate Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science Engineering is ideally preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in managing a multi-site IT infrastructure.
  • Must have a strong combination of technical and leadership skills with a focus on transformation and change management.
  • Complete project life cycle and change management experience, across a variety of medium to large sized IT projects in growing organisations is essential.
  • Excellent all-round knowledge of different IT functions would be beneficial
  • Strong innovative thinker and customer focused individual who has proven experience in initiating and managing cross function collaboration and building trusting relationships with internal stakeholders.
